BLOOMFIELD: Laura Ruth Hamilton, 100, of Bloomfield, Iowa died May 4, 2011 at the Bloomfield Care Center. She was born January 10, 1911 in Pulaski, Iowa to J. Walter and Laura Nalley Day. She married Lowell C. Hamilton April 9, 1933 in Ottumwa, Iowa. He preceded her in death August 28, 1991. Ruth was a homemaker and later a bookkeeper for Hamilton Produce in Bloomfield. She was a member of the Bloomfield United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a son, James (Cleo) Hamilton of Detroit, Michigan; a daughter, Janet Ruth Triplett of Minneapolis, Minnesota; four granddaughters; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Lou McVey.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a sister, Jennie Younkin.Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 8, 2011 at the Bloomfield United Methodist Church with Pastor Kevin Gingerich officiating. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield. Visitation will begin after 1:00 p.m. on Saturday with the family present to greet friends from 6-8:00 p.m. at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to the Bloomfield United Methodist Church and to the Friends of the Bloomfield Public Library.
